“I can imagine.“ she smiles “I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find a group the first time.“
“Oh, so C++ is not an option? Wouldn’t this cause optimization hell? I know C#, which is why I’m surprised, it’s not an ideal language for writing something like games… Tho then again, it’s just the logic written in it”
“Well, the engine itself is already completely written, you’ve gotta do some scripting on top, though. And no, c++ is not an option as far as I know. Another mistake I’ve made before, writing an engine instead of a game…“
“Yeah, this may be why it works, I still shudder to think what a game made in pure C# would be like” and he actually does shudder “And well, for something small and simple it’s doable, I mean, I did write that prototype engine for a point and click game using SDL, but it took way too long and by the time it was done, I lost my original ideas and couldn’t think of anything new really for it.”
“SDL huh? I used that for my tile thing too. I also tried to use it for something else for android, but that didn’t work too well. I switched to libGDX afterwards and that worked much better. I manage to redo everything I did in a matter of hours instead of the months it cost before.“
“Hmmm, libGDX huh, I will have to remember that and try it out myself” He nods, writing down the name in notepad “So, can you show me more?”
“That one’s in Java. But it works really well if you want to do 2D things.“ she says “Want me to quickly show you how to make space invaders in this?“
“Java huh, that’s not THAT bad I guess.” He nods eagerly “Sure think Kate, show me!”
