i have had it UP TO MY FUCKING EARS with this U-S-A chanting bullshit. every time i hear it, i feel like throwing up.

I have to say…in this context, as a response to that unanswered question, the USA chant is—no other way to put it—terrifying. Here is a crowd in spontaneous, complicit agreement that ignorance about life and death matters deserves nothing but a deeper and fiercer ignorance. In this moment, the abbreviation for the United States of America becomes “DESTROY! DESTROY! DESTROY!” I keep reminding myself these are real people…not cartoon characters. But I’m still not sure.
