I would like to launch a formal complaint about Seth Macfarlane and his “joke’ during the Oscars. As an aspiring film student in savannah collage of art and design, I tuned into the Oscars yesterday with my roommates and girlfriend to cheer on my favorite movies. But what I got was nothing less then disgusting. The academy and the Oscars are supposed to be the best of the best in film and the award ceremony is highly prestigious. What I got was the feeling of being violated in the first five minutes of the show, and it only got worse then that. Statutory rape/pedophilia, homophobia, sexism, racism and the like are not things I want to hear about being ‘joked’ about during this, especially as tastelessly as this. I woke up this morning still feeling uneasy because of it. The fact that Macfarlane cracked four Jew jokes and then brought out a nazi, and his repeated inappropriate picking on of the lovely (and nine years old) Quvenzhané Wallis left everyone feeling that way. My roommates had to leave the room less then half way through. I don’t know what you’re going to do about this, but I feel an apology should be in order, especially towards Quvenzhané Wallis
