No, it was better, not sure if it was a faulty crack or something, but there had to be LITERALLY no drives, even emulated (I am guessing Star Force, in case of lack of drive, allowed game to run)
And yeah, that was the biggest problem of any cd-based DRM, wearing of the disk
And I heard about that, funniest thing was when Vista came out and the driver was incompatible with the system.
Out of all DRMs I pretty much tolerate only one, Steam’s CEG. I mean, I did buy the game online, so it makes sense I need to be online to play it. Especially since you have ability to tur steam in offline mode and continue playing. Then we have Ubisoft’s uplay, I have no idea how it is ow, but when AC2 came out you had to be connected all the time to the internet, when for any reason connection died the game was pausing and you couldn’t even save it (since saves were stored remotely).
But can you switch the Steam to offline mode when their servers are down?
Yes.
At least, Steam loads and starts a game fine with my network cards disabled (it gives you a message that it can’t connect to the server and online functions won’t work, then starts). Just tested it.
Good to know, means there is something wrong on my laptop then and not on Valve’s side.

Oh, FINALLY a fellow pirate on tumblr. I also generally pirate games. Borderlands for example was a gift from someone. But aside from that pretty much “YARR HARR FIDDLE DEE DEE, BEIN’ A PIRATE IS ALRIGHT TO BE~!”

Vindicar frowns for a moment. "You ought to be careful and let your body heal properly. I do hope to see you healthy the next time we meet." He nods to wounded pegasus and leaves, his distinctive hoofsteps can be heard for several more seconds.
“Ha” he nods “I know, luckily the doctors said it won’t take that long with this leg. But well, same here, hope nothing bad happens to you before we meet then” He nods him back and lays back onto the bed, well, for a short while anyway.
"A sound idea. I usualy fly higher, though, so I probably won't be risking too much..." he nods and looks at the pegasus. "Thank you for the information, that's certainly something I need to check as soon as possible. Get well, Pewny, and see you later, once you're done with that meteoprobe." Vindicar salutes jokingly and smiles.
He chuckles lightly, seems his nervousness is finally dissipating “Well, I will probably for some time avoid flying above the forest for quite some time. As for that, you are welcome, perhaps there won’t be any other pegasi crashing into somepony’s roof. And thank you, I’m sure we will meet after that” He wants to salute back, but his broken hoof only makes him lightly gasp “Right… I keep forgetting” He smiles.
Vindicar half-closes his eyes, as if thinking about something. "Odd air current, you say... It's something I should check. But I suppose you were flying at relatively low altitude, probably just above the tree tops, right?"
“Yes, I don’t know if there was any source of it. As for that, I wouldn’t say it was just above. It was higher, safety from hydras.” He seems rather cowardly if it goes for Everfree.
Vindicar nods slowly. "Speaking of which... could you tell me what happened? I fly from Ponyville to Moon City quite often, so if there is a new danger on that route I'd prefer to know about it beforehoof."
The hipogriff can notice a small, VERY small smile showing on the pegasus’ face, he foresaw that question “I hit s-some odd air current above the forest. It made it impossible for me to land safely, without losing control. Sadly, after a short while muscles of my right wing” you can see that the mentioned apendange is fully unfolded and ‘hanging’ slightly lifelessly “gave up, making me fall from the sky” his body lightly shivers at the memory of the Pewny-type air-ground missile.
Hippogriff smiles softly, pretending he didn't notice pegasus' obvious nervousness. He then steps inside, still staying close to the door and trying his best to avoid any sudden movements. "I'd like to thank you for offering your services. While there are some skilled ponies working for Nightmare, it's always good to have another smart guy around."
He seems to keep a close eye on the hippogriff. He does notice certain differences from your usual griffin, perhaps he will calm down in a moment “Well… Mythic said that the city could use my help, and not only I don’t have much to do in Ponyville” he stops for a second “but I also owe him something for saving my life.”
Hippogriff opens the door and makes a half-step inside. He then stops, letting pegasus to take a look at him and keeping the distance. "Hello there, Pewny. Mythic told me you're stuck here for a while, so I decided to pay you a visit early. Name's Vindicar, Vindicar the hippogriff. Pleasure to meet you."
The stallion upon noticing you seems to get smaller, his irises shrink and his voice gains a little stutter “H-hello… Yes, Mythic did tell me I’ll be seeing you.” He gulps lightly, he is obviously quite nervous “Ple-pleasure to meet you too”
Vindicar follows the directions, and soon he stops before that room. Quickly cheking himself, he knocks.
Pewny looks at the door, guessing it’s probably Mythic, he shifts slightly in the bed and says “Come in!”
As Vindicar enters reception of the Moon Castle infirmary, he asks to meet a patient named Pewny.
The nurse quickly tells you the number and location of the room the stallion is currently in.
