The hippogriff can hear the pony’s voice from inside “Coming!” and a few seconds later the door opens “Oh. Hey there Vindicar.”
Birdpony does as he’s told, and starts shaking the armor underwater, making quite a lot of noise in the process. It quickly proves to be a tiring thing to do while balancing on hind legs, so Vindicar has to aid himself with wings, spreading them wide to keep balance.
“Just… like… that…”
“Alright, alright, that’s enough, if you were to shake it like that for like half an hour non-stop then maaaaybe it would clean up fully. Also, a note, use something of lower height, giving you a chance to sit while doing this.”
“I’ll take that into account,” griffpony smiles, wiping off the sweat from his forehead before taking the armor out of the tank. “What comes next?”
“Well, next comes the shaking off part. Unfold the armor and then shake it as best as you can, as if you were with some cloth. Also, this is something that should also be done before you put the armor in the water, but since you flew there and such, I thought it would be enough.”

“Well, that’s the price for the armor not falling off in the middle of combat,” Vindicar jokes, approaching the tank Pewny seem to have chosen for the test. “First try with just hot water, right? No sense in wasting soap until most dirt is taken care of.”
“Fair enough.” He chuckles again, then nods at the question “Yeah, just throw it in there and do what I said”

“It sure can be folded, but I’m not sure how that will affect the cleaning. Anyway, let me take it off.”
With that birdpony proceeds to grunt, blush and curse quietly, as he removes the armor piece by piece, wing covers, cuirass and neckpiece actually being detachable. Finally, he folds the thick metal weave and places it down. “Phew. Done.”
“It shouldn’t really, the point is to get all of it soaked mostly, plus, don’t simply ‘dip’ it in water, keep it there and shake while there, that will also help”
The repairpony slightly chuckles at the troubles his friend has taking off that armor “Not that easy I see, huh”

Vindicar nods. “Cuirass is easy to clean, and the chainmail underneath it is pretty plain too. But yeah, let’s try it out then. Got anything roomy enough to submerge my armor completely?”
“Well, it depends. Does the armor stay as huge as you when you take it off, or does it ‘deflate’? Because I may have trouble finding something your size”

“Yeah. Quite heavy piece of work. I haven’t become fully used to it.” Griffpony smirks sheepishly, his shoes clanking audibly. “So, what do you make of it?”
“Well” He moves his hoof over the chainmail parts between plates “Those parts seem like will be the easiest to clean” He goes over the wing covers “Those are more tightly packed, so it may need a more thorough use of the air pump.” He the goes over behind the griff, to the mail-only part covering his rump “Hmmmm” He pats it lightly “Yeah, that’s something between the wings and first part, it shouldn’t be problematic. I think that what I thought up should work then.”

The hippogriff can hear the pony’s voice from inside “Coming!” and a few seconds later the door opens “Oh. Hey there Vindicar.”
Vindicar nods, standing up. “Okie. I’ll be back in about forty minutes or so.”
And indeed, in less then hour armored hippogriff lands heavily in front of Pewny’s workshop, panting heavily. “Damn, I need more practice of flyign in that thing.”
The armor seems to match the description, dark blued steel chainmail overlaid with series of blue metal plates, forming stripes on the sides, belly, and back. The chest area is covered by a simple cuirass, but there are some sort of wing covers on the sides that might require extra attention. The helmet is strapped to Vindicar’s side and not seen clearly from where pegasus is standing.
The heavy landing can be clearly heard inside the workshop, making the stallion walk out and look at the armor “My my, that’s quite the piece of work you have there, V”

“It’s made from blue steel, with some additional protective layer on the surface. Plates are mostly go on sides, belly and back, chest and rump being free. It can handle being submerged in salt water, though I’d be careful when applying abrasive materials. Plus, I only need help washing out the dirt and sweat from between the rings.” Vindicar sighs. “If I chose plated armor, like Starbuck’s, I wouldn’t be able to fly in it at all. So we have what we have.”
He listens to him talk about the armor “Hmmm… you know, if the rings are not packed extremely tight, I think that shaking it, dipping the whole thing in water, shaking it off again and then using some high pressure air pump would be enough.” He nods “The first would get most loose dirt out, water with soap, or just water if soap can’t be used on it, would take care of sweat and some dirt, second shaking should remove more of the now soaked dirt. And at the end the pump, if you were to move it’s hose around the armor, over all rings and such, it would get rid of the rest and additionally dry it off. All in all I don’t think it would take more than a few minutes to do.”
“Makes sence for me. I do think it can handle soap, though. Should we try it out?”
“Sure, I have an air pump so we can do just that.”

“Well, as I said, I’ve received my suit of armor earlier. But unlike Starbuck’s plated armor, it’s a plated chainmail. Which meens it’s hell of a job to clean it after a day. So I wanted to ask you to try and invent something that would make the job easier. I need quite a lot of time to keep training, so it would be really helpful.”
“Plated chainmail? By Luna, that is quite a lot of things to clean there. How thickly plated is it? And from what metal exactly was it made? Like, can it handle water and such.”

I haven’t dropped in since that Heart Warming party. I hope there wasn’t any trouble?”
Pewny leads him to a room with a table and a few chairs “I’ve been alright. The number of customers I have seems to not change much, so I have no trouble with finances for now. And nah, no trouble around here at all. But enough about me, how about you? How is it going for you?”
“Well, I have been busy adapting to my role as a knight. Sadly, I kinda messed up earlier. There were no… irreversible consequences, but my reputation took a hit. Now it’s going to take a while to gloss over bad first impression.” Vindicar looks down, tapping his hind leg. “But on the bright side, my armor has been finished. Which is why I’m here.”
The pony nods, listening to his friend, then walks over to him and puts his wing over the hippogriff’s back “You managed to become a friend of a pony that freaks out whenever he sees a griffon. I’m fairly sure you won’t have much trouble with that first impression going bad.”

“You are welcome Vindicar” The pegasus lightly pats V’s back “That’s the least I can do for you my friend”
Hippogriff nods a bit before letting his friend go. “You are a great friend, Pewny.” He pauses for a moment and adds, “I should go, though. So have a good rest this night!”

He smiles more “I knew I will meet you, Mythic warned me I will be meeting someone that looks similair to a Griffon. And you can’t tell me that upon first meeting… first FEW meetingS I wasn’t nervous like hell around you. “That statement is very, very true.” He just smiles and wing-hugs the hippogriff “Don’t worry, you are not keeping me up. I was just tired, didn’t plan on going to sleep.”
Hippogriff smiles happily as he returns the hug. “Thanks. Honestly, it’s ironic that you’re one of the mostly friendly ponies I’ve met.” he adds, smirking and nudging pegasus slightly.
He blinks “Me? Most friendly? Nooo… And why ironic?”
